In 2004, the Wests Tigers took the title, winning 18–7 in the final and ending Parramatta's campaign for a third consecutive title. The Wests Tigers' first title as a merged entity gained them A$100,000 in prize money.

Tigers edge Eels for Sevens glory
The Wests Tigers have won their first trophy after beating Parramatta 18-7 in the final of the rugby league World Sevens tournament in Sydney.
The new-look Tigers moved into the final after a 19-18 victory over St George Illawarra.
The Eels' decision to field a full-strength squad paid dividends after they had a convincing 21-14 win over Manly in their semi-final.
The tigers set up their victory over Parramatta with an impressive first half.
Wests led 11-0 at the break after tries to recruits Shane Elford and Pat Richards.
